Falcons Track & Field Earns MASCAC Weekly Awards

Kibler, Lane earn POW honors in respective sports

FITCHBURG, Mass. (April 4, 2012) – The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s track and field teams named had two players earn MASCAC weekly honors as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Senior Chris Kibler (Bath, Maine/Morse) was named the MASCAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after collecting a trio of titles at the Worcester City Meet hosted by Holy Cross. Kibler notched first place finishes in both the 800m (1:59.84) and 1,500m (4:04.42) runs, while also taking the crown in the 3000m run with a time of 15:45.45.

Junior Emily Lane (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) also claimed a MASCAC weekly honor after being tabbed the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Lane led the Fitchburg State women’s squad at the Worcester City Meet, placing first in both the 400m hurdles (1:08.19) and the high-jump (1.52m), while adding a fourth place finish in the pole vault (2.59m).

The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s track and field teams will host the annual Jim Sheehan Memorial this Saturday at 11 a.m.
