Fitchburg State Trio Collects Player Of The Week Honors

Kibler, Desrochers sweep men’s awards; Lane earns Field ATOW accolades

FITCHBURG, Mass. (April 24, 2012) – Fitchburg State senior Chris Kibler (Bath, Maine/Morse), sophomore Zach Desrochers (Dracut, Mass./Greater Lowell Tech) and junior Emily Lane (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) collected MASCAC Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Kibler was tabbed the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after capturing top honors at the Eric Loeschner Memorial. Kibler earned first in the steeplechase with a time of 9:47.75, while also posting a ninth place effort in the 800m (2:02.88). Desrochers was also named the MASCAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week with an All-New England mark and first place showing in the hammer throw (53.25m).

Lane led the women’s team with a MASCAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honor after placing second in the high-jump (1.62m), third in the 400m hurdles (1:07.29 and fourth in the pole vault (2.75m).

The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s track and field teams will be back in action this weekend as they compete at the MASCAC Championships hosted by Westfield State University.
