Women's Basketball

Junior Melissa Proffitt (Hubbardston, Mass./Quabbin Regional) earns her second Soarin Falcon honor of the season after leading the Fitchburg State women's basketball team to a solid 2-1 record this week.

Throughout the week, Proffitt collected her team-leading fourth double-double of the season, averaging 14.0 points per game with 9.3 rebounds per contest. The junior forward led the Falcons with a 14 point, 11 rebound effort vs. Bridgewater State, while adding 15 points and eight caroms against Eastern Nazarene.

This season, Proffitt has led Fitchburg State on both sides of the court, ranking first in scoring with 12.3 points per game and second overall with 8.5 rebounds. She has certainly made her mark within the MASCAC, ranking eight overall in scoring and fourth overall in rebounding.

The Fitchburg State women's basketball team (8-7, 2-1 MASCAC) will be in action again on Thursday as it travels to Salem State College at 6 p.m.
