Each year, the Fitchburg State athletic department recognizes those student athletes who go above and beyond both on the field and in the classroom. Awards that are presented are: The Paul K. Waring ’38 Athlete of the Year, the Senior Scholar Athlete Award, the Athletic Leadership Award, the Kruczek Award and the Rookie of the Year Award.

The Paul K. Waring '38 Athlete of the Year Award, established in 2001, is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female at Fitchburg State University. Criteria for the award include, but are not limited to, the following achievements and qualities:
The Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year is presented to the most outstanding male and female senior athlete with a minimum 3.2 GPA.
The Athletic Leadership Awardis presented to the male and female athlete that goes above and beyond in all areas of competitions and demonstrates outstanding leadership by example.
The Kruczek Awardis presented to the athlete who demonstrates courage and spirit by overcoming adversity.
The Rookie of the Year Award is presented to the most outstanding male and female, first-year participant at Fitchburg State College.
The Contributor to the Program Awardis presented to a person who has supported the Athletics Department with their hard-work, dedication and commitment.
