Vorse Collects Second MASCAC Weekly Honor
Leominster, Mass. native named MASCAC Goalie of the Week
FITCHBURG, Mass. (February 2, 2010) - Fitchburg State junior Robert Vorse (Leominster, Mass./Bay State Breakers) was named the MASCAC's Goalie of the Week as announced by conference officials Monday afternoon.

Vorse earns his MASCAC weekly honor for the second time this season as he lifted Fitchburg State to a perfect 2-0-0 week. In net, Vorse collected a pair of victories with a 2.98 goals against average (GAA) and a .882 saves percentage. He led the Falcons to a 3-2 overtime triumph over Worcester State College with 25 saves, while adding 20 stops in a 5-4 victory over Plymouth State.
This season, Vorse has been stellar between the pipes, posting a 7-2-1 record with 256 saves, a .886 save percentage and a 3.24 GAA. His .750 winning percentage ranks second among MASCAC goalies, while his goals against average (6th) and save percentage (9th) are also among league leaders.
Vorse, a 2008-09 New England Sports Writers All-Region selection, has saw action in ten games this year for the Falcons, logging over 610 minutes in the crease. He has propelled Fitchburg State to the no. 2 ranked defense within the MASCAC, while leading the Falcons to eight consecutive victories.
The Fitchburg State ice hockey team (13-3-1, 9-2-0 MASCAC) will
be in action again on Thursday as it hosts UMass Dartmouth in a
MASCAC battle at 7 p.m.
