Dickinson Downs Fitchburg State, 75-57

Knower collects first double-double of season in Falcons' loss

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (December 30, 2008) - Sophomore Elliot Knower (Templeton, Mass./Narragansett) notched a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds as Fitchburg State fell to Dickinson College, 75-57 in day two of the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Knower led the Falcon attack with his team-high 14 points and ten boards, shooting 6-of-8 from the field. Junior Tim Graham (Arlington, Mass./Arlington Catholic) was also solid with 11 points, three boards and two assists, while senior Brian Torres (North Dighton, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth) added ten points and four caroms.

Senior guard Kizmahr Grell (Laurelton, NY/The Gunnery) led Dickinson with a game-high 23 points as he became the 18^th Red Devil to reach the 1,000 point plateau. Grell went 7-for-8 from the free throw line, adding five assists and two steals. Senior Tom Leszczynski (West Babylon, NY/St. Anthony) and junior Cory Kenny (Richboro, PA/Council Rock South) each posted double-doubles with ten points and 11 rebounds. Kenny also added a pair of blocks and two assists.

Both teams traded leads throughout the first half with the Red Devils pulling in front 38-29 at the break. Grell closed out the first half for Dickinson with a three-pointer and opened the second frame with another, putting the Devils in front by double-figures for the remainder of the game. Dickinson shot 41.9% for the contest, while Fitchburg State hit 31.0% from the field.

Fitchburg State (4-5, 0-0 MASCAC) will be in action again January 6^th as it hosts Regis College at 7 p.m. Dickinson (5-2, 0-0 CC) returns to action on January 7^th as it hosts Haverford College at 8:00 pm.
