Dean Fuller: Head Coach (26th Season; 416-214-37)
Dean Fuller is in his 26th season as the head coach of the Fitchburg State ice hockey team. He has compiled an overall record of 416-214-37 during his 25 seasons at the helm of the Falcons, while leading the Falcons to several ECAC Northeast playoff berths.
Last season, Fuller led Fitchburg State to an overall record of 13-9-5 with an impressive 9-5-3 mark in the highly competitive ECAC Northeast. The Falcons advanced to the ECAC Northeast semifinals, defeating rival UMass Dartmouth in the quarterfinal round. Fitchburg State named one player to the ECAC NE All-Conference first team and the New England Regional All-Star team.
During the 2007-08 season, Fuller guided the Falcons to 13-10-4 mark, including a ECAC Tournament first round victory over top-seeded Curry College. Fuller also reached an exclusive milestone during the campaign as he became only the eighth Division III men's ice hockey coach to win 400+ games.
Fuller has built and guided a Falcon program, which has earned a reputation as one of the top programs in New England. Under Fuller's direction, the Falcons have earned a post-season trip in each of his 25 seasons behind the bench, while vying for the conference championship ten times. During their ten trips to the conference finals, the Falcons have emerged victorious seven times under Fuller.
Fuller, a former standout for the Falcons ice hockey squad, has been a major part of Fitchburg State hockey since 1978. Before taking the helm in 1984, Fuller served as an assistant coach under legendary coach, Jim Gorman.
A teacher at Fitchburg High School, Fuller resides in Fitchburg,
Mass with his wife Sue and their five children, Matt, Chris,
Amy, Angela and Andrew.
Malcom MacPherson: Associate Head Coach (19th Season)
Malcom MacPherson is in his 19th season as part of the Fitchburg State ice hockey coaching staff. Promoted to Associate Head Coach in 1997, MacPherson is a terrific teacher and leader, bringing a background of success to the team.
MacPherson has worked with the defense on the ice, while recruiting off the ice. He brings a wealth of knowledge about the game and is an outstanding motivator for the Falcons squad.
MacPherson is a former head coach of the Fitchburg State men's soccer program for nine season where he posted a 108-36-15 mark from 1983-1991. His career win total is second only to Fuller's in all of the Falcon men's sports. MacPherson currently serves as the head coach of the WPI men's soccer program, enjoying similar success with the Engineers.
MacPherson and his wife Sandi resided in Holden, Mass. They have
two children, Chris (former coach of the Salve Regina
Seahawks) and Jennifer.
Chris Kyne is in his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Fitchburg State ice hockey team. Kyne joined the Falcons staff for the 2006-2007 season and has been involved in the game of hockey as a player and a coach for over two decades.
Throughout his four-year tenure, Kyne has served multiple roles for the Falcons, including advanced scouting, recruiting, game video analysis as well as playing a supporting role during practice, off ice training, and during games.
Kyne boasts a wealth of coaching experience, including a two-year stint as head coach of the Fort Dorchester Patriots of South Carolina. Here, Kyne guided the Patriots to a 20-5-4 mark and an appearance in the South Carolina State Championship Finals.
Kyne returned to New England in 2005 and was the head coach of the New England Stars Midget supplemental team in 2006. Kyne also ran beginner, novice and recreational Adult Hockey leagues for The Hockey Academy, based out of Hudson, N.H.
Kyne, a native of Connecticut, earned his bachelors degree from
the University of Connecticut while finishing his playing career
for the Connecticut Whalers. Kyne now teaches history at
nearby Leominster High School after earning his Post-baccalaureate
degree in Secondary Education at Fitchburg State in 2008.
Vincent Giambrocco is in his 15th season as an assistant coach of the Fitchburg State ice hockey team. He has aided the Falcons defensive squad, serving as the team's goaltending coach.
Throughout his time at Fitchburg State, Giambrocco has developed numerous players who have garnered ECAC All-Star honors, . He has been an intrical part of the Falcons playoff run, while leading several athletes to ECAC Most Valuable Player recognition
Giambrocco possess over 20 years coaching experience, including coaching stints at the NCAA and Tier 1 AAA Youth Hockey level as well as the high school/prep level. He has served as head coach for the Bay State Games, leading the Central Region team to three gold medals and three silver medals in a seven year span.
Since 1984, Giambrocco has served as Director/Owner of hockey schools and clinics, including the Falcon Hockey School, Max Effort Power skating school, and the All American Goalie School. In addition, he has been a five-year coach for the NEJHL Midget and Junior "A" programs, while leading the Central Mass Outlaws Tier 1 AAA to a National Championship appearance.
Giambrocco earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the
University of Maine, Orono and currently pursuing his Master of
Science degree in Resource Utilization. He currently resides in
Leominster, Mass.
