Endicott Shuts Down Fitchburg State, 57-41
Goreham posts second double-double of the season with Falcons loss
BEVERLY, Mass. (November 22, 2009) - Sophomore Rebecca Goreham (Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) registered her second double-double of the season, but Fitchburg State fell to Endicott College, 57-41 in non-conference action this afternoon.

Goreham led Fitchburg State offensively, totaling 11 points and a team-best 15 rebounds, while junior Melissa Proffitt (Hubbardston, Mass./Quabbin Regional) added her second double-digit effort of the season with 12 points and seven boards. Junior Molly Maloney (Taunton, Mass./Taunton) rounded out the Falcons top three scorers with eight points.
Endicott junior Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H./Trinity) led all scorers, posting a game-high 21 points, three rebounds and five steals, while senior Cecily Chisholm (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) collected ten points and six boards.
Endicott gained an 11 point lead after first period of play as the Gulls defense limited Fitchburg State to only 17 points in the period. The match was evenly played for most of the first half as Endicott held a slim three point lead at the 6:03 mark, but the Gulls rifled off an 8-0 run to close the half and take a commanding double-digit lead into the break. Senior Kaylin Burke (Leominster, Mass./Leominster) and Wright led the Endicott first half attack with seven points apiece, while Proffitt netted eight for the Falcons.
In the second half, Endicott continued to apply the offensive pressure going up by as much as 21 midway through the frame. The Gulls ran off eight straight points at the 14:18 mark and capped their 15-4 run with five unanswered points just two minutes later. Fitchburg State (1-2, 0-0 MASCAC) will be in action again on Tuesday as it travels to UMass Boston at 5:30 p.m. Endicott (2-0, 0-0 TCCC) will host Tufts University on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
